DOUGLAS FIR

Strong, tall and a staple for supporting transmission lines.

Douglas fir has been a choice for investor owned utility companies and electric cooperatives for decades. Grown primarily in the Pacific Northwest, Douglas fir is remarkably knot free, strong and light. It is considered to be one of the best-known softwood timbers. It is readily available in both transmission and distribution sizes in lengths from 30 - 120 feet. Douglas fir sapwood is easily treated and with a long history of safe and dependable use. This material has been approved by the Canadian Standards Association and Rural Utilities Service.
